Amy Au, Colorado Therapist

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in the state of Colorado and earned her MA in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.

Originally a native Texan, I took a 17-year detour through Asia with Cru International before putting down roots in the beautiful state of Colorado in 2013.

I work with individuals seeking recover a sense of safety, access to their bodies and new ways of navigating their relationships. My specialities are working with adult children of mentally unwell caregivers, those who have survived childhood abuse and neglect as well as sexual abuse and incest survivors and those suffering from anxiety and depression.

I believe well-told stories free us as we exchange the shame of how we survived trauma for the grief of powerlessness. I work with individuals, lead groups and empower people in their healing journey with insightful psycho-educational teaching.

My practice is founded on the belief that….

  • We are all innately beautiful souls

  • Surviving harm meant wisely acting different than our true selves in order to get our needs met

  • The shame we carry from having been inauthentic at any age must be honored as we come out of hiding

  • We all have young parts of ourselves that need help “catching  up” to the power, needs and desires we have as adults

  • Since pain happens in relationships, healing must as well. This means our connection as client and therapist is the soil where you get to be yourself and practice healthier ways of relating.

  • Well-told stories set our souls free as we exchange the shame of how we survived trauma for the grief of powerlessness
